Kelly Shaughnessy, MA, LPCC
I am excited to start working with you on your journey of healing and self development. I am passionate about working with women, couples (including interracial and multicultural couples) and adolescents. I am a mother of four children, including one launching to college, a high school student and a child who came to our family through adoption and is on the autism spectrum. I have been a stay-at-home mom as well as a career woman. I have been married and divorced. My life experience has given me a breadth of empathy for the many challenges and celebrations of life. I understand the complexities of navigating parenting, romantic, social and professional roles and relationships.
I feel great compassion for women who are going through divorce, loss of relationships or loss of identity. I love helping women grow stronger, more self-compassionate and resilient through these experiences.
Kelly Shaughnessy
I have experience working with mothers navigating parenthood and marriage, young adults exploring their independant identity as well as teens/adolescents searching for a supportive and understanding adult in their life.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association and I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. As part of my masters degree, I completed a one year supervised internship with Mental Health Partners at their Broomfield office with a full caseload of therapy clients as well as mental health assessment clients. While at Mental Health Partners I received training and experience with individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and was instrumental in the development and implementation of a Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for teens with high level anxiety, suicidality and OCD.
I have experience and training in the following Evidence Based Interventions:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Mindfulness
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Exposure Response Protocol (ERP) for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- CAMS Suicide Assessment and Treatment
In my practice I utilize a combination of these therapies to treat Adjustment Disorder, Trauma, Anxiety, Stress and Depression. I also work with individuals to develop strategies to strengthen their relationships with their family, friends and in their workplace.
When not counseling, I also love to travel and serve as the President of Light Up Hope, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides education, food, counseling and mentorship to talented women and children from impoverished communities in Kenya.
My fee structure is $125 per 50 minute session. It is my policy to collect all fees at the time of service. I accept payment in cash, check or credit card. I am not contracted with any health insurance companies but I am able to provide receipts of service for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
